Thanks to everyone who gave advice about St.Thomas and a special thanks to the Islander for responding to my email.
We just returned from St. Thomas and it was wonderful. We will return in June with our teenagers. Some thought that might help other 1st time visitors.
Great things to do:
Plan to spend a whole day in St. John's. Rent a car and stop at all the great places. Shopping here is more unique than St. Thomas and prices are about the same if not bettter. Visit Freebird and Sparky's. Great people.
Spend 1/2- 1 day shopping in St. Thomas.
Take a guided tour of the island, it was worth it, Reggie was great.
Be sure to just enjoy the amenities that your hotel offers. We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton and they had lots of great stuff to do.
Restaurants:
My favorites were Agave Terrace and Cuzzins. Don't miss them.
Randy's is a good choice especially if you enjoy wine.
Skip the Greenhouse, service was poor and food just average.
I would have liked to rent a car because Taxi's cost so much but my husband decided he'd rather part with his money rather than his life. Driving there is really a challenge but much more economical if you are up for it.
Next time I'll pack a suitcase with drinks(sodas) and snacks especially since my teens are going.
Hope this benefits some other person going to St. Thomas for the 1st time. Can't wait to go back.
