So, we started last evening with dinner at Carribbean Saloon, moved to Duffy's until they closed and then found a GREAT little bar in the next building over from Duffy's - it's a pour your own place.....you ask for liquor, barkeep gives you a cup of ice, the bottle of booze, and mixer (or not) of your choice and then you, well, pour your own....
@ $3.25/drink it's perfect - AND open well past Duffy's, etc. Didn't catch the name (the Jack got me before I could get it), but it's upstairs in the building between Duffy's and the gas station.
I know exactly what you're talking about and I'm sure somebody could help you with the name.
I have a few delicate questions to ask you about this place.
Is it safe?
Is it clean?
What age group hangs there and is it mostly locals or tourists.?
Seemed fairly safe....it's an open-air place with a couple of pool tables.
It was reasonably clean (bathrooms were a vast improvement over what passes for one at Duffy's - they really should just have a hole in the ground a the 'Shack).
It was a small, mixed crowd - although it was 2:30 a.m. Everyone seemed friendly enough - after all they WERE pouring their own drinks *wink*.
I think it is called the warehouse. Is it on the same side of the street and upstairs? Like between Duffy's and the pizza place/gas station? Leticia
Depending on how long you've lived here it's called "Poor Man's Bar" or "The Warehouse." It's been around for years but word is that it's continued presence may be short-lived as the massive development of Red Hook continues.
STT Resident, Which is it now? I was going to say poor man's but then I thought no warehouse.
Actually the signage says "The Warehouse- a Poor Man's Bar."
Well, that explains it. Thanks.
for those of you that have not been... hurry up, they lose their lease in june 🙁
