Caneel Bay is the resort, The Grand Buffet is an event that takes place on Sundays, and is held on the Caneel Terrace Resaurant. To make a reservation call the main number and ask for the activities desk. Are you staying at Caneel or just brunching there?

The Caneel Bay Grand Buffet is Monday nights, at the Beach Terrace. My husband and I have reservations for our trip next week (March 3-9) at the Westin -- we will be doing the Brunch buffet at the Ritz Carlton in St. Thomas on Sunday, and the Caneel Grand Buffet for dinner on Monday. Each of those meals should hold us all day!!!!!!!!

I will gladly report back after I return from my trip. I am a serious buffet-lover -- I just love being able to have some of anything I want -- and I also have had a hard time finding out the DETAILS of what is offered on each buffet.

We will be there Mar. 5-15. When you made reservations for the grand, caneel one, did you ask if it is the seafood one? what night, date?

We might do the Ritz one too.

Thanks Katherine, Maybe it used to be on Sundays, or another block of memory cells in my brain has expired! They (Caneel) also have a habit of changing the names of their restaurants from time to time. The Sugar Mill is now the Equator, and also highly recomend, and I have heard and read, that the resaurant that "Chris@Work is the chef of at the Westin at STJ. Chloe & Bernards (sp) I intend to visit there in July.

Wes
I am afraid you have me confused with Chris Cody, who is the chef at Chloe & Bernards on the Westin property.
He is a frequent participant to the board as 'Chris Cody'.

Thanks for the head's up, although you contribute greatly to this board. Sorry for the confusion (pretty much a constant state!)

Hi Laurie!

They would not give me all of the specifics of the Monday night buffet, but I was assured that this is the "big buffet" and that lobster and other high-end fare is regularly offered at the buffet, with the specifics depending on availability of the different ingredients.

If you do decide to go and see a smiling chubby gal with short dark hair together with a tall bespectacled cute-nerd type guy, that will be me and my husband Dave -- please say hi!

ok, I think we will go on the 7th. I will be a tall, blond, chubby, 30ish girl with a mid-40's med height, brown haired, big bellied guy, named Brian who will be eating everything and talking to everyone, he loves to cook and eat. I will say HI. 🙂

Ginger,
The buffet at Caneel will most likely exceed your expectations (not even knowing what they are!) The view is very nice! (Twinkling lights from STT) Ask for a table near the water. The Equator has great views and food (try the Kalaloo!) but not the buffet. A nice thing to do after the buffet is to grab a cocktail (or appertif (sp) and walk to the stairway to (the left if you are looking at the water) there is a "roof top" sitting area that is very comfortable with an awesome view.

Hey guys,
Funny thing is, a few months ago, i worked the grand buffet at caneel. We would do 120-150 people in June. Pretty crazy.
People get upset if we didnt have Lobster. I would suggest getting there early for prime rib and Lobster.....its a littler fresher earlier in the night, as with all buffets.
Don't forget Miss lucys is great for brunch out in Coral Bay.
