Do GPS Systems work in the Virgin Islands (specifically STT and STJ)?

Thanks,

Justin

Just curious - why wouldn't they?
And why would you need one - you are on island...
not trying to be a smart butt, but for the life of me I do not understand why you would want one on island.

I would add one caveat - many of the secondary roads that appear in my GPS unit turn out to be either non-existent or more like 4 wheel drive trails. While stateside GPS maps are typically only 1-2 years old, it appears some of the roads in my fairly new GPS haven't existed for years. As long as I stay on the numbered roads, I'm ok, but I've learned not to take some of the "shortcuts" recommended by my GPS. Think they used the old Navy road maps and haven't updated since!

Greetings!
I sure hope there's no interference with GPS systems. We are planning to bring ours with us in a couple of weeks, but not for what you might think.

In response to TomB, we'll be bringing our GPS along for hiking, more specifically, geocaching. Geocaching is a worldwide game of hide and seek and there are a couple of hidden treasures on St. Thomas that we intend to discover! We can't wait.

Cheers!

Being an old USCG Navigator (Aircraft - Not boats) that game sounds fun. So if it is a WW game of hide and seek, I am assuming that someone has put something there and you find it by coordinates or clues?

Me I learned on LORAN A +/- 3 miles on a good day - not sure it would be much help in a game like that.

I have the Garmin nuvi. I would expect any brand to have the STT/STJ roads on them; they get that information from a variety of sources. Only problem is they don't purge old data very well, so some of the smaller roads in the database don't exist in real life any more.
