I saw this and thought we should remember a talented musician who loved the VI.

Mea culpa not to have been one of Nicky's many friends/fans/supporters to have posted on this forum when it was already news on other forums right after his passing. I kept thinking that someone else would say something.
I think his last performance was probably at my 64th birthday party last December. Mighty Wifey Janet was set to perform in his stead as he was starting to fail but then she had to fill in for him at another gig and he came himself. The acoustics at my place don't require any big amplification and although Nicky brought his speakers along with him he blamed Janet for not being able to use them because, "she forgot to pack the right cords"!!!
A wonderful evening was had by all as the relatively small private crowd raptly listened to his songs and stories I asked him to play/sing/tell and he even took the time to learn the McCartney song, "When I'm 64" as requested and which he sang twice. Most of us knew that he was quite ill and on borrowed time.
I urge anybody who knew and loved Nicky to go onto his website (just do a Google to find it) and help out with his massive medical expenses by buying his CDs. Cheers! And, thanks, Schultz.
I will miss Nicky tremendously. He was a true part of the VI community and did a lot for it. He was one of the first people I heard play right after Marilyn hit.
R.I.P. Nicky you shall be missed
I was fortunate enough to hear Nicky play at an open mic night at Lat. 18 a few years ago. It was one of the best nights of entertainment that I've ever experienced. I've been playing one of his CD's at home and in the car for many years. The owner of the Parrot Fish shop recommended it when I asked for local talent. It's definitely one of our favorites. We will miss Nicky a lot.
I remember when he ran for senate. He cleaned up but did not make it.
I will miss him...
