My fiance are getting married on the day before Thanksgiving in St Thomas. Our families are coming down to see us get married and we'd like to go to St John on Thanksgiving and check it out. Anybody know of a great restaurant in St John that's open on Turkey Day??? What about Great Dining St John???

Thanks!!!

Hi Jodi! My husband and I visited St John for the week of Thanksgiving 2002. (We were engaged at the time, but planning our March 2003 wedding on St John during that week)

Here is an excerpt from the review I wrote of my trip to St John last Thanksgiving (posted here on these boards):

"Thanksgiving Dinner: the CHEAPEST we could find anywhere on St John was at Pickle's Deli for $15 per plate (not including beverage). We prepayed and ordered early, and returned at 3:00. (Serving 1:00-4:00). They had run out of a couple of items by the time we returned 🙁 . No dessert - they ran out of that too. At least we had turkey and dressing. No price break either for running out even after we prepayed. Next cheapest Thanksgiving dinner we found was $36 each, so that was out of the question (some place in Coral Bay). "

If I remember correctly, there were other places on St John having a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for much higher than the places in Coral Bay (maybe Caneel, restaurant at Westin, and Asolare?) We were on a tight budget, so we were looking for inexpensive. We spent Thanksgiving morning snorkeling at Cinnamon Bay and Thanksgiving afternoon snorkeling at Salt Pond Bay (saw my first hawksbill turtle there), but enjoyed our Turkey dinner under a Tamarind tree behind Pickle's Deli later that afternoon!

You may want to do a search of these boards with keyword "Thanksgiving" - it might turn up more results. I also posted a review of our wedding/reception on these boards as well (Search by author Mandy)

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!! The US Virgin Islands are the ideal place to exchange vows and begin your life as a married couple. Our wedding on St John this past March seems like years ago... we miss St John so much!! Enjoy your time down there!

🙂

Chloe and Bernard's restaurant at the westin will be doing a traditional fare for Thanksgiving. Last year was a huge success and we expect this year to have a packed house again. If you want to book reservations, I suggest for a larger party to book within the next month or so. Thanksgiving is a busy week. You will pay more per person than 15$ but it is very nice and would make a Thanksgiving to remember for all time. If interested call 340-714-6075 and ask to set reservations for Chloe and Bernards.

Otherwise, there are other options on St. John. I am a little biased. 🙂
