We will be in St. Croix mid may, and i would like to spend one day playing golf while my wife shops. I played the Bucaneer a few years ago and really liked it. I will need to rent clubs, don' t plan on bringing mine. anyone know of any special rates or best time to play. also, i am about a 20 handicap, if anyone is interested in joining me...hate to play by myselt.
As you probably know St Croix offers the best golf in the Virgin Islands. there is nothing on any near by islands except Mahagony Run on St Thomas.
St Crois has Buccaneer which is a fun course with breathtaking views. Carambola is a world class course that once hosted a LPGA event. There is also the 9 hole Reef course that could be very nice if improved. The Buccaneer in May is wide open. You can get a starting time almost any time you like. they do rent clubs and you will enjoy your game.
Not a golfer myself, but check this site: http://www.finetravel.com/GOLF/golftheVI.htm.
Also, the golf course at the Carambola reportedly requires collared shirt, dress shorts, and probably "real" golf shoes.
thanks for the feedback. dress shorts and collared shirt are not a problem, was hoping to play in regular athletic shoes (tennis shoes), did not want to have to pack my golf shoes for just one or two rounds. Leaning toward playing Bucaneer, played it once before and really liked it, but would not mind playing Carombola if fees were not too high. I am by no means a good golfer, but love to play.
