Hi All:

I found this message board and have been enjoying reading and taking notes on STJ. My husband and I rented a Villa for a trip in May. The villa looks beautiful on the internet and from what I read on this forum it will more than likely be even more beautiful when we get there. It will be our second trip to the Carribean, the first was to Harbour Island near North Eleuthra for our wedding. I did a lot of research before deciding on Harbour Island and would highly recommend this island to anyone looking for complete and utter relaxation. When I was researching for this second trip I decided on St. John because it seems like a place where we can go and again relax completely and let go of the craziness of our everday lives. We will be spending 10 days on the island. I just wanted to thank everyone that is contributing to this forum as it is offering me so many wonderful tid bits of information. My trip is truly going to be an amazing one.

Thanks Again!

May is a great time to be on island. The winter/high season crowds are gone and the summer/family crowds aren't there yet. It's our favorite time to go.

I'm sure you'll find that St. John even prettier that Harbour Island plus it's so fun to drive on the left (or maybe they do there too?).

Be sure to do a trip report.

Hi SerenaMoon-
You definitely won't be disappointed with STJ. It's going to be more than you've ever imagined. Which villa are you renting? Are you two going alone or with another couple?

10 days....ahhhh.....you'll be glad you did that!

I too am going to STJ in May - to get married!! Our family is renting a large villa that consists of 3 pavilions (like seperate home) and we are so excited about it! This will be a first time for all of us. I was a little worried about waiting until May but that was the first availability for this villa. I am glad to read that is a beautiful time to go- I wasn't sure if the weather was good. Happy to here it is. What week are you going to be there? We will be there in the villa 5/2 - 5/9, then just the 2 of us are going to stay an extra 5 - 7 days. Were still deciding on STJ ot STT. Any recommendations??

Believe me you won't want to leave STJ and be the time you've spent a week with all those other people (family member I presume) you'll want those extra days alone - just the two of you - to be tranquil and quiet and moments to treasure (until you return again next year?). Ten people is a lot a people no matter how big the house is. All adults?

Get a NICE but smaller house for the 2 of you. Be sure it's nice because you're following a gorgeous house in Peter Bay for heavens sake!

We actually are not going to St. John in 06. My husband has always wanted to stay on Tortola so we are going there for change. We could take the ferry over for you wedding. We fly down April 29 and return to Michigan May 13. We'll celebrate our 43rd anniverary on Tortola instead of St. John. I can live with that.

April-

Consider Gibney Beach Cottage as your second villa destination after your guests depart. It's perfect for two people and sits right on the beach.

Hi Bluwater!

I will be staying in the La Sirena villa. It's right near Pebble Beach. From the pictures it looks so great. It will be just me and my husband all by ourselves for the entire time. I am so excited and I still have to wait 8 months!

We decided on 10 days because our last vacation was 7 and it was a little short. I just can't wait to go.

Should we rent a jeep for the entire time?

I think La Sirena is way out beyond Salt Pond so you will for sure need a Jeep the whole time you're on island.
