OK so where i left off from yesterday-
Last i wrote we were driving like maniacs thru Charlotte Amalie during lunch hour traffic to go to Pt. Pleasant to change and grab coolers, beer, rum ect...
Got to villa ran around with our heads cut off still stressing about making Sherri and Jeff wait
were their about 5 minutes and were off
luckily HB knows his way pretty well from last year and got their in record time(Well You Know what i mean)
Meet Sherri and Jeff at the dock, hugged our Hello's and got into the boat and away we went!!!!
As were driving out i could just feel all the stress melt away and decided that since we only had 2 days left stress was out of the question
Sherri bien the great baiter for fishing tackle that she is hooked up the tackle to the fish poles and kinda trolled as they took us out to Little St.James island and showing us a great view all around STT from the water that i had never seen before, I couldn't believe the big rocky cliff with all those gorgeous houses.
it was an awesome sight to see!
We headed over to st.James island, anchored at Christmas cove and basically just snorkeled, chilled, drank and hung out chatting and catching up!! LIFE DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT!!!!!
Next we went over to another spot cant remember the name (think i got our spots backwards cant remember) did a little more snorkeling and went up on the beach.
How upsetting it is to see all the trash, yes TRASH that washed up out of the ocean from the hurricane.
How can people be soooooooo IRRESPONSIBLE
so we started to clean up but their was just so much you couldn't possibly get it all
We stayed their for a while just having a great time and before you know it were off to get ready to go to Indigo's for dinner and to meet RonUSVI
Went up to Sherri and Jeff's house (we call it the LOVE SHACK) to shower and change and was totally blown away by their property, OMG you all should see the views they have, VERY NICE.
After the grand tour and chatting we went to Indigo's
A very nice place as well, ordered drinks sat out side and ordered dinner
My sister and i split a lobster stuffed with crab meat stuffing with some kind of white sauce cream in it along a slab of the best Prime rib i ever had YUMMY
HB had seafood linguine I think (The drinks are starting to get to me a little at this point so started not paying attention to what everyone else had-Sorry Sherri and Jeff.
We then talked to RonUSVI who we were gonna finally get to meet but something came up and he couldn't make it, WE HAVE NEXT YEAR (but at least i got to talk on the phone with him)
After dinner and drinks and chats we all said our good byes and away we went, stopping at the next convenient store we saw to stock up on liquids for our villa.
Went to the Villa and sat on our Balcony and just looked out at the moon, stars and daydreaming about our wonderful afternoon with our friend Sherri and Jeff and their wonderful hospitality.
Saturday:
Wont up at our leisure, lounged a little had something to eat and got ready to head over to St.Johns to show the Newbies another piece of Paradise.
took the ferry over and hopped on a cab and went over to honeymoon
what a gorgeous beach, it was nice just lounging around playing in the water and snorkeling
spent the day their and decided to head into Cruz bay to go have some fun and show the Newbies Woody's and the Beach Bar but first had to head over to St.Johns Spice to meet Ruth and Ron from the Forum, but the Doors were locked, guess we shouldn't have stayed at the beach as long as we did-oops
headed over to Woody's for apps and drinks.
Next headed over to Beach Bar
Now this gets interesting-
We had to use the restrooms so we went where they were open before but they were locked
some other guys were standing their as well waiting while this one guy sent his girlfriend over to the bar to ask where we could all go, they sent us upstairs
While we were waiting in line i started talking to the same guy about "where are you from, how long are you here ect..
Found out he lives in STT and is actually one of the big wigs that is doing the construction job at the Marriott and his boss was sitting at a table down by the Beach.
He asked Why we were only their for a long weekend so we started to tell him our horror story about the Marriott and he started laughing because the guy that we were meeting for the job interview wasn't even the guy hiring, the guy hiring was sitting about 50 yards from us!!(Can you believe it) yes HB it pays to talk to everyone you run into even at the bathrooms-so their!
They invited us to sit with them so HB could talk to someone who actually knew what was going on
Very, very nice people, we ate some more, had drinks and chatted about the job situation (We will see what happens)
Enjoyed the band very much and had a great time
They even asked us to change our flights to stay another day cuz they were gonna take us out on their boat to the bvi's then go over to the Chili cook off, BUT>>>>>
We couldn't so we said our goodbyes and just about missed the last ferry going back to STT, and i mean by like one minute-oops
Went back to STT and just couldn't bear the thought of going to bed because we new once we woke up we had to go home.
So went to Duffy'sbut it was so loud we walked over to the old Sop Choppys and had another drink and talked with the new owners
Of ff to bed
Sunday AM, What a sad day this was going to be
Packed everything up and headed out the door
Didn't have time to go to breakfast cuz we made plans to take the Newbies up to see Stone Cottage and Rockworks and to say goodbye to Sherri and Jeff and my little Kitty who i made friends with last year
So we decided the fastest way to eat and get over to hull bay was to hit McDonald's (YEAH RIGHT) I dont think those people even got out of bed let alone wake up to cook for anybody- definatly on Island Time
Shoved it down our throat and we were off again
Got up to see Sherri and Jeff around 11:00am and they gave the newbies a tour of both and got to see my kitty
It really started to hit me What we had last year compared to this year and their is NO COMPARISON
WE LOVE STONE COTTAGE AND ROCKWORKSand so did the newbies cuz thats all i heard about all the way home
Jeff built both villas by his own 2 hands using the rocks that they found lying around which is alot to build Rockworks, plus did all of the pluming, elec, ect... and Sherri did all the Decorating which is just fabulous
They even make their own tile out of concrete! Very talented people
So everyone should check these 2 places out for sure, you wont be disappointed.
Now its 12:10pm or so and we have to go our plane leaves at 2:15pm-oops
Was very hard for me to say goodbye but had to go (I was more sad this year than last and was so choked up when we left i didn't talk all the way to Thrifty to return the car
Got to Thrifty and OMG talk about Island Time
Its now 1:00pm and my stress has returned cuz i thought for sure we were not getting on the plane, which for me was fine but the newbies had to be to work the next day and my car was what got us to FLL so HB and I had to go
Finally, got to the air port with 5 minutes before they were closing the check in counter and through customs we went
We taxied down the runway and the tears came flowing, HB felt bad and said "Hunny I promise 10 days next year, even if we have to sleep on the beach" AWWWWW
Even sitting here writing this the tears are starting to well up because unless i win the lottery we wont see my beloved VI's until June of 2008
Hope this wasn't to detailed or boring for anyone
gobucs
Great report! Will say a prayer for the job prospects. How great would that be. You did get to do a lot in such a short time.
Gobucs...great report part 2.
Love Christmas Cove too! So awesome! One of our favorite places in this world. We alternate years with ST john./ St Thomas vacas...so our next is ST thomas at SH. Love eating at Indigo too so excited about that. Will visit Hull Bay for sure this year. Haven't made it in all our trips so looking to do that also! Thanks for sharing.
Glad your trip ended up with a good ending. Things always change and change is good.
Great Report! Didn't know you got to meet the head guy for construction at Frenchman's Reef, Great News!!!!!
After hanging out at Christmas Cove, we circled around to the other side of Great St. James! Tho there isn't any coral to see there (sandy and grassy) we knew they would get to see Conch and Starfish, so that is why we went there! I too, was SHOCKED by the trash on the beach from the storm passing! I told Jeff that when we go out next time, we will take some large garbage bags with us and pick up as much as we can. How sad for sure.
Thanx for the compliments on the villas, yes, Jeff is quite proud of himself for his accomplishments and sometimes even gets goose bumps when we read the guest book about what our guests have written! Only time he had help was to pour the slabs, all the rest, all by himself! Amazing!
As for Kitty, Thank God our quests are animal lovers as Kitty has been with us for 3 years now and only 1 guest has complained! They are all suckers I tell ya!!!! lol! Us? Well, we are sick of cleaning up after her, it is show time every week so have to vacuum off the out door furniture and wash the screens of her hair! She has been given many, many a name in the guest book at SC!!!! Most people saying, FEED THE KITTY!
Well Gobucs, was soooooo nice to be able to spend some quality time with you and had so much fun out on the boat!
We sure don't get out often enough, that is for sure, and loved having a good reason to go! Yes, the north shore is fun to see from the ocean! Just wish we could of caught a fish! lol! 🙂
See ya next year!
Enjoyed your trip report and so sorry not to have met you. Those "best-laid plans" will have to wait until next time around. Cheers!
Thanks STT Resident
I think June of next year for 10 days
gobucs: No doubt the 23 years will segue into 24 and I'll still be here! Cheers, dear!
Glad you had some fun and made some positive memories out of an otherwise disappointing trip! The great news is that you're already planning your return trip - and it's a long one! Thanks much for the reports - I enjoyed them.
Thanks to all for endearing all my agonies but also our positives as well
gobucs
Gobucs,
Forgot to Thank you for our Beer Huggies!!!!! We love them! 🙂
Hey sherri next year ill bring something a little bit bigger-LOL
gobucs,
Thank you for taking the time to pick up trash. Storms always make it more obvious.
I always arm myself with trash bags no matter where I go anymore. Even here in Calif.
when I go out hiking or to the beach.
You are a true lover of the VI's. The kind of visitor that deserves another visit!
DreamConch,
Funny, just this a.m. I was telling Jeff that we must make sure to take Garbage Bags with us so we can go back and p/u some garbage. My Dad is coming down on the 10th and we will get out on the boat again. Promise we will get over there and pick up more trash!
Gobucs,
Hmmmmm, now you have me guessing!!!! lol! Not to worry, don't feel you need to bare gifts. It is simply nice to see you!
Sherri you make me proud!!!!
Whats really sad is when we were at Coki Beach all the trash people leave behind including Dirty Dipers
It just sickens me
If people could care less about the envirorment then imagine what their houses look like or what they are teaching their children or should i say the lack of teaching their children
WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO!!!!!
P.S. Thanks Dream Conch
P.S.S.
Sherri,
It will be something fun
and have fun with your dad
get Jeff to take you over to the baths your dad would like it
Yeah!!! Hooray for a fabulous 4 days!
Thanks for the good vibes! I am missing it!
Blu,
I am missin' YOU! Nice to see you back on line with us! When is your next trip down?
Gobucs, didn't think about taking Dad over to the Baths, will pass that by Jeff! It may be my only chance!!! lol! 🙂
My Dad was a Garbage Man, He owned Finch's Disposal, so garbage has always been a pet peeve for our whole family! You can bet that Dad will be more than happy to help me pick up the garbage over at Great St. James! It is on our list of things to do! 🙂
Welcome back Blu
Where have you been blu???
I was in Disney World for 2 weeks with Lil Blu 🙂 - It was a nice diversion from the real world. i am not sure what kind of pills those cast members take, but those are the happiest and perkiest people anywhere. LOL At first, it was a little off-putting and weird. But, after a few days, I got used to the "happiest place on earth."
Lil Blu is an absolute fan of everything scary and thriling. I thought Disney was about dumbos and mice and fairies. So why do they have Towers that Terror, and Coasters that RocknRoll, and Spaceships that spin your brain to a froth, and that new backwards coaster with the 10 foot Yeti monster that comes after you. Good grief.
The housekeeping (or "mousekeeping" as they are called) decorated our room every day while we were out - leaving "towel animals'" on the bed, propping Lil Blu's toys in the window as though they were waiting for her to come back...or propping them up on the bed and turning on the tv as though they watched TV while we were out. And everywhere we went, they called us both "Princess" and told us to "have a magical day!".
Missed you all!!! - good to be back.
