I've been searching the net to no avail. Are there any companies that run glass-bottom boat tours on St. John or St. Thomas? I will be going to St. John with my grandparents, who would love to see the reefs and fish, but aren't spry enough to snorkel. The Kon Tiki booze cruise is not exactly their speed.
Anyone have any suggestions about ways for the less-mobile to enjoy the underwater life?
Thanks!
Ali
I don't know if this will work for you but here is a suggestion. Sometime ago while on a day sail to St. John from St. Thomas on the Winifred we stoped at Hawksnest to snorkle. My wife is not a strong swimmer and is unable to cope wiyh wearing a mask. So the crew gave her a life jacket and a big bucket with a glass bottom. She was able to float around and with the bucket in the water she could see the fish and reefs.
You might try Atlantis submarine. I am not sure what special accommodations they provide or your grandparents may need, but it is a way to see below.

Hello,
Coral World might also be an option.

Yet another option might be the "BOB Underwater Adventure". Check it out at www.bobusvi.com
Also, I saw a glass bottomed boat at Sapphire Marina a few weeks ago, and I think they do some kind of trip/shark feeding...not really sure. But you might be able to get some info from Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina at: http://www.sapphirebeachresort.com/boat.htm
Oh! And also at Coral World they have a semi-submersible boat that does trips. I think Coral World will be your best bet, as they have the underwater observatory, Sea Trekkin' (walking underwater with a helmet on), that semi-submersible boat and all of the aquariums that you can look in and some that you can interact with.
