Ginger,
Thanks again for all your information. I've decided and I'm going with Secret Harbor. My fingers are crossed that we will rave like you and others. By the way, I'm doing a paper for a course I'm taking on how to select hotels/resorts in St. Thomas and I would love to print one of the photos you shared in your replies. The link doesn't open any longer so could you do it again? Seeing your pictures of Secret Harbor really did it . They were fab.

I was booked at the Best Wester Emerald Beach for 2 nights in April but have read too many bad reviews. I noticed that Secret Harbor has some pretty reasonable rates if you don't need beach front. Do you know what the ocean view and ocean front rooms are like vs the beach front. Are they still fairly close to the beach? We are looking for something on the less expensive side.

Thanks

Let me clarify my question. I can't tell from the map on SH web site what the scale is. How far a walk is it from the Ocean View rooms by the pool to the beach. I can live with a 5 minute walk.

Thanks

Hi,

Like Marty says....not even 5 minutes. The rooms you are considering are up the hill behind the beachfront units. The pool is up that way also. You will walk up/down some stairs and across a small parking lot behind the beachfront buildings to get to the beach. It's a great resort and I would definitely pick it over your other choice.

Much better explanation, Schultz! Kudos!! Haha!

Even tho you aren't "on" the beach, the views are great. You WILL have a good time there!

yes guys you are right....the walk up to the other rooms is not bad at all just a small parking lot and a few steps up....
you will love it no matter what room you have...we walked around with the manager and saw examples of all of the rooms and every one was great!

Do all of the rooms have kitchens, even the studios? Or at least refrigerators?

I think that SH should pay you for all of the business you are sending their way. We decided to spend our last 2 nights after 9 nights on STJ at SH. Sounds like alot of other people on this board have made their decision because of your posts. Not til April, but I'm looking forward to ending our trip at a place that sounds wonderful.

Secret Harbor is a great place. both the blue moon restaurant and the beach bar have excellent food and Beach the bartender is great. we have always stayed beachfront, the most perfect place to stay on st. thomas. due to the timing this year we are staying somewhere else, i am hoping this place is half as good.
the rooms were huge, beautifully decorated and kitchens stocked with all supplies. the beach is fantastic for snorkeling or just laying around

I have friends staying in unit #322 right now. A big, two bedroom apartment is what it is! It's got everything just like your home does. This one is on the second floor, but the view is still great!

What about safety deposit boxes? Are they available in the rooms?

Sounds great. Unfortunately we are going to get the oceanview rooms instead of the beachfront. We are already spending way too much money for this trip!!!! So I guess a couple minute walk to the beach wont kill us.
