I am trying to find the name of the gift shop in St. John where I purchased a hand blown glass mermaid. A friend of mine and I had taken a cruise through the islands. Some of us took a small boat in to St. John to go hiking through the forest and to a secluded beach area. When we got back (same place we started from) we went and looked at the small shops in that area. There were a number of them. In one of them is where we found the glass mermaid where we both purchased one. Hers broke and I would like to purchase one for her for Xmas as a surprise. I once received a catalog in the mail from them but haven't for a few years so I do not know how to reach them. If you have any ideas can you please email me the name and their telephone number? Your help is appreciated. Tx

Terry,
I'd like to help, but I'm gonna need a little better description of where the shop was. Were you in Cruz Bay? Is it possible your hike was from the parking lot of the National Park Service down to Honeymoon or Solomon Beaches? The stores near that area may have been back down the hill towards town in a place called Mongoose Junction... Any of this ring a bell?

Best,

In Coral Bay maybe? The quiet side of the island. There's the little gift store next to Skinny's and one next to Shipwreck landing. Sound familiar?

Hello,

If it was a glass piece locally made on St John; perhaps it was by Ron Keele who's web site is http://www.islandblown.com/

The examples on the site are of fish and bowls though, no mermaids.

If you were shopping at the Mongoose Junction shopping area perhaps you could look at their site:

and see if you recognize the store's name.
