Can anyone recommend any villas in the Gift Hill area? Looking for something with a nice view and privacy. A pool would be nice but not a priority. Just two of us celebrating 25 years together. Looking for something under $2,000 a week. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've stayed near Gifft Hill and the stories about that road mostly about how steep and difficult it can be to drive. After driving around Costa Rica for 3 weeks, I dobut i'd even notice. There are several lovely villas on Gifft Hill. Many, however, are well above you price range. Check with Caribbean Villas [www.caribbeanvilla.com] for Coconuts and Seawatch. Both have a great view of St Thomas and are fairly nice, modest houses with small pools. I might lean toward coconuts, but ask Caribbean Villas which is nicer. Haven't seen reviews. Eden's Whim, also available from them and others, is nicer and has views down the southshore. It gets excellent reviews from renters.

Donald Schnell, mentioned above, has lovely houses.
