Ok guys don't laugh!

We will be in St Thomas next week for 7 days. There are 5 of us and we plan on going on a 1/2 day deep sea fishing trip. Several of my party members are worried about getting sea sick.

Is there anything we need to know that would help us not to get sea sick

Dramamine, if I spelled it correctly, taken a couple hours before you board has always worked for us. If you wait till your on the boat or just before it'll be too late. Avoid greasy foods that a.m., we stopped at Dennys a few times in N.E. which has proved to be a big mistake.

Here's my recipe. I love fishing but can't tolerate too many waves.

I use Dramamine (regular- not the non-drowsy.) Take one the night before. This gets the medication into your system. About an hour before you get on the boat take another one. It gives you a bit of a sleepy buzz, but once your active on the boat it is nominal. Keep your mind off of the rocking by keeping busy and staring at the horizon or the beach line. Stay towards the middle of the boat and stay outside so that you can keep an eye on the horizon. Catch some fish and you will never have to worry about it. If the queeziness starts building up, pop another pill but don't swallow it. Stick it under your tongue and let it dissolve. Your face will numb but so will your stomach. Eat light and stay away from the alcohol. The other thing is to remember the sun tan lotion. You will achieve a new level of burn from the reflection off the water.

I mated on a light tackle boat in the Keys. This is what I used and what was recommended to all customers who were questionable. What I also learned was that a good charter captain will understand the customer and will do whatever it takes to make sure the customer is happy. Very few good fishing trips involve chumming over the side of the boat for the whole trip. Let the captain know and they should help to keep the queezies to a minimum.

Have fun.
