Hello,
My fiance and I are scheduled to get married at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church on Friday, August 5th at 3:30 p.m. We have been unable to find and hire a singer that can sing the parts during the Catholic Mass (the Responsorial psalm, the Holy, Holy, etc). If anyone has any recommendations, they would be greatly appreciated. We have hired a violinist, we just need vocals. If the singer could also sing the Ave Maria, that would be a huge bonus.
Please, please let me know!
Do you have a preference for male or female? Let me check with a few people
I know the lead singer for Spectrum Band does Ave Maria. It's on her Xmas CD, and I heard her sing it not too long ago. Lorna Freeman Dennis is her name, and I think Spectrum has a website.
I don't mind if it's male or female! I would be happy to have anyone! Thank you so much!
If you could land Lorna, what a treat that would be for you! She's pretty incredible.
Here's Spectrum Band's Facebook page. Don't be put off by the party images! This is a very talented, versatile musical group. If you can't get Lorna, ask their manager, Mr. Gumbs, for another recommendation. I heard one of the Gumbs' family members rehearsing religious music at a studio, and that person was very good, too.

Let us know how it works out! There's someone else I'm thinking about, but I don't know if she does Ave Maria.
I reached out to a few people and the problem I am running into is the date. I had 2 great suggestions of folks on STJ but neither of them witll be on island as they leave for the entire summer.
When I lived on STJ, I was a member of the choir at that church. Have you asked about a choir member? There were some amazing voices in that group.
Also, you may want to contact the STJ School of the Arts. There may be a student with great talent that they can recommend. It would be great to involve a STJ resident into your wedding, keep the costs down, and give a student a chance.
Xislandgirl, St John School of the Arts is an excellent suggestion! Here's a link to their website:
You all are so amazing!! Thank you so much for responding! I will look into them right now! I'll let you know how it goes!
I contacted the St. John School of Arts and was told my message would be forwarded to students, unfortunately I haven't heard anything back. If anyone has any other ideas, I'd really appreciate it. I can't imagine the ceremony lasting more than an hour. Please let me know
try detra a. davis, also excellent singer. i am certain she can perform this song. operatic soprano and can "sang" when she gets ready too. very versatile:
A friend attends that church. I'll ask her today if she knows any singers.
There's also a music camp - G Clef. Maybe the director can help. I don't see their listing in the phone book, but they're at Tillet Gardens. Tillet's number is 340-775-1929.
