We've set our wedding date for July in St Croix and will be getting married at The Buccaneer. Looking to plan a rehearsal dinner off the property and a trip to Buck Island with our guests. Would appreciate any suggestions and /or feedback .

I would recommend Duggan's Reef. This restaurant is located on the beach at Teague Bay. Food is excellent. Duggan's is just a few miles east of the Buccaneer. It might be possible for you to arrange a charter boat to take you directly to the reataurant from the Buccaneer.

In July you probably would have Duggan's pretty much to yourself. If the wedding party is large enough the owner might be willing to close it for your private party.

There isn't a dock at the Reef so the boat would have to be beached. Another option is for the boat to drop you off at the St Croix yacht club which is less than a mile east of the restaurant. From the yacht club you could take taxis back to the restaurant.

Many thanks for your reply Jim!! I've read great reviews of Duggan's which is renowed I understand for their lobster dishes. Also wanted to be sure our location for Friday's rehearsal dinner was a negotiable distance from The Buccaneer. Any opinion on Kendrick's another restaurant recommended to us?

Sorry. I have eaten their only once. Don't have a strong enough impression to make a recommendation.

Kendrick's is superb ( http://www.gotostcroix.com/kendricks/). I love Tutto Bene ( http://tuttobenerestaurant.com/) and they would treat you fabulously, but it might be a little noisy for such a dinner. If your party is relatively small Savant might be a possibility, especially their new back terrace. Duggan's might be the best bet though, just based on it's location right on the water. For other restaurant thoughts check out http://www.stcroixscuba.com/restaurants.htm . His "reviews" are pretty darn accurate in my opinion.

As for trips to Buck Island, either MileMark ( http://www.milemarkwatersports.com) or Big Beard's ( http://www.bigbeards.com) would be an excellent choice. I know that MileMark will pick up folks at the Buccaneer, not sure about Big Beard.

Congratulations and ENJOY. Feel free to contact me if you'd like any of my lists of things to do, restaurants, web sites or even my packing list.
