I would like some information on getting from the cruise ships in St. Thomas to St. John and back again.

Thank you.

You can take a ferry from Charlotte Amalie, where the cruise ships dock to Cruz Bay, STJ. The ride is approximately 45min.

St John is a must see!

Gloria -

Run your mouse over "St Thomas" in the banner above. When the drop down menu appears, select on "Getting Around". The page that comes up next will have a blurb on water ferrys and a link to the schedules and costs for ferry service for the Virgin Islands.

As mentioned above, you can grab the ferry in Charlotte Amalie or if the schedules don't match your needs you can taxi to Red Hook and take the ferry from there.

Hello,

The Charlotte Amalie ferry runs less frequently then the Red Hook ferry - so be certain to look at the time table that Bob recommended you look at to insure that the Charlotte Amalie ferry will work for what you want to do. A note the Charlotte Amalie ferry takes 45 minutes - if you are proned to sea sicknesses (which some who take that ferry complain about) then you should try to taxi to Red Hook so you are on land and then take the Red Hook ferry as it is a shorter and smoother ride (15-20 minutes). The Charlotte Amalie ferry is $7 one way and the Red Hook ferry $3 one way. But you will pay a taxi fare with the Red Hook ferry that will make the cost about the same or a little more.
