Hello!

Help!

I am moving to St. Croix with dogs in a week and am having a difficult time. I was going to fly into St. Croix but my dogs are over the weight limit (the airline I was on never told me there was a weight limit so I had to find out last minute) and just last night had to change my flight to St. Thomas because that was the only other option. I am hoping the ferry will be running because then I can just take the dogs on the ferry and all will be well. But in case the ferry is not running I need a Plan B. Any thoughts? One dog will not make it onto Seaborne, Cape Air no longer flies large dogs, and really I'm looking for what would be most affordable. Any way to charter a boat? Is that way too expensive? Any unknown airline out there that will fly big dogs?

Thanks for any input,

Aspen

Seaborne and Cape Air are the only airlines that fly between St. Thomas and St. Croix. So I guess your only other options would be to look into chartering a boat or a plane.

You could try this place that operates a water taxi service. They don't have St. Croix listed but they may work something out for you. This will probably cost you some money though.

You don't say when you will be coming in? At this moment, there is NO option between STT & STX except flying for people. The ferry is supposed to be starting "soon".

There is a cargo vessel that travels between the two islands a couple of times a week, the Norma H. I think the company is Formel. One of the owners posted here a week or so ago re shipping cars.

I have no idea if they take animals, but they do NOT take human passengers, so even if they take animals, you'd have to give them the dogs, catch the seaplane over and meet the dogs in STX.

Be aware this can be a rough crossing. We're about 60 miles south of STT and the channel between is deep.

Good luck
