Hi gang. While on vacation in STJ, we are wondering if it's feasable to meet up with someone over at the STT cruise ship docks by 9:15 am. We'll have a jeep and I'm wondering what are the pros/cons of catching the car ferry from Cruz Bay over to STT vs. taking the passenger ferry/taxi scenario. I understand the $$ breakdown - app. $80-100 for the car barge and app. $45 minimum for the taxi option. If we take the jeep back over to STT, we could tour around over there for the day and come back in the evening. If we take the pass. ferry/taxi option, we'd be much more limited.
Some specific questions are:
will we be able to park the Jeep over near the cruise terminal (and app. how much is the parking fee)?
can we park the jeep in Cruz bay for the day?
How early would we have to leave Cruz bay to make it by 9:15am?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
Cheers.
If renting your car on STJ they are not allowed to leave the island (not allowed on the car ferry) If you are renting your car on STT you probably should plan on being on the 7:30/8am car ferry

Thanks Pia. It is an STT rental so we should be good to go there.
There are two cruise ship docks on St. Thomas, so be sure you know at which your friends will be docking. Most ships dock at Havensight, but some will dock at Crown Bay. We met friends once who were coming off the ship, so we planned to have breakfast at Delly Deck at Havensight while we waited. Good thing, because they took their time coming off the ship after their big buffet breakfast....LOL At Crown Bay you can have breakfast at Tickles. There should be free parking at either location.
Pay the cab fee and skip the car barge from Red Hook unless you're OK with losing up to 3+ hours just sitting around and waiting for the next ferry. Forget whatever else you may have read or heard. We were in town for 1 day on a cruise and I WISH that someone had told me about their experience with car rental and ferry.
syncopation: I responded in detail to your other post about the car barge. Your situation wasn't the norm.
