Okay 30 days and counting! Was wondering about a few things. I want to book a trip with VI Ecotours. Have tried twice to do it while we were there, and they are always full. Does anyone know if the trip is really worth it? Or are they just busy with tourists all the time? Sounds like something we haven't done before, so it should be fun. Also, my son has it in his head that we have to go to Water Island. Does anyone have any suggestions how to make the trip there, what to do there, and is it really worth taking an entire day to go there? Lastly, anyone know of budget way to get to Jost Van Dyke? All the places I've found so far are a little pricey. We are staying at Sapphire again, our favorite spot with the view of St. John. Getting excited to return! Thanks for any suggestions!

Water Island. Check the Water Island ferry schedule on this VINOW web site. Get to Crown Bay Marina - don't know if you're renting a car, taking a taxi, or taking dollar taxi?). The Water Island ferry is in the first slip on the corner of the seawall where Tickles restaurant is located. Once you arrive on Water Island, head to Honeymoon Beach (See Africah Harrigan's video clip on this web site that demonstrates short walk from the Water Island ferry landing to Honeymoon Beach). It's an uncrowded, white sand, beautiful beach with palapas, pavillion and trees for shade. Heidi Honeymoon Grill and Joe's Beach Bar are both on Honeymoon Beach. Heidi serves excellent lunch (burgers, chicken ceasar, chicken breast sandwich, hot dogs, sausages......all very good) including food, drinks, candy, etc. Joe's serves blender drinks as a speciality and also beer. If you wear comfortable shoes, there are a couple of places very nearby Honeymoon Beach that you can easily explore. The botanical gardens (lovingly maintained by local resident volunteers) and Limestone Beach. A more agressive hike would be to Ft. Segarra (also a video clip on this web site by Africah Harrigan). Though not that far in distance (the whole of Water Island is ~2 miles), there are some challenging 'Suzzan Sommer thigh master" hills between Honeymoon Beach and Ft. Segarra.

If you go to "Quick Links" top right of this page and scroll down to Ferry Schedule you'll find information on the St Thomas/Jost Van Dyke ferry schedules and rates which would be an alternative to going on a charter. Remember that you MUST now have passports to enter the BVI. Enjoy your visit - Sapphire awaits!

To add to FL Barrier Islander's wise words... I recommend that you go over on a Saturday. Call Heidi and find out what is for dinner and order. (she only does dinner on Saturday, but lunch the rest of tjhe time- daily FL??) Tell the ferry guy you are going to need the late pick-up. Go over and enjoy the beach, watch the sunset and eat a wonderful meal with your toes in the sand. Priceless!:D

Heidi is only doing Saturday dinners every other weekend during the off-season, check her web site above before coming over.

EE - Ferry Guy? Ferry Captain if you will.

Pizza Delivery Guy - ok with me. But for someone who has to demonstrate ability, document service time, and stay current with safety training . . . In the immortal words of Aretha Franklin - All I'm asking is for a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Maybe that's a good thing, I'd like the peace and quite. To be fair to Heidi, she doesn't have a computer or know how to use one, and for that matter probably doesn't even know how to spell PC. Friends and employees have set her up with the web site, and monitor the activity. Heidi just concentrates on preparing great meals, served in a location with an unequaled ambiance.
