My future wife and I are going on our honeymoon to St. Thomas. Do I need a rental car?

On your honeymoon, maybe not! But if you do venture out of your room, it will give you freedom to explore and see the island!

My wife and I went to St. Thomas last July for our honeymoon also. We rented a car (from Dependable Car Rental) and were very happy that we did. We loved the freedom that it gave us.

at least take the ferry to St John and rent a car/jeep for the day. There will be several people when you get off, trying to rent to you. dont let them be pushy make them compete

If you rent a vehicle in St. Thomas you can take it to St. John on the ferry. It is pretty inexpensive and certainly worth the money. We stayed at Pavilions and Pools because it gave us a great deal of privacy and our own pool. We weren't there for the night life so much as time for ourselves. We went everywhere possible on St. Thomas and St. John. We will be back this August.

We will travel to St Thomas this August (11-18)...We will probably rent a car, do you have a suggestion as to where we should rent...staying at the Elysian B R in the east end...should we rent at the airport, what r the taxis like??
Thanks for any info.

The taxis are many. You can certainly get one at the airport, in town, at Magens Bay and other attractions.... and they can be called to pick you up. The cost will start to add up as the taxis charge per person and per luggage too. Under getting around on this site, you will find taxi - go there and view the taxi rate sheets and you will get an idea of the cost. The taxis are nice - some are cars, others are big vans and some are open air trucks. You might want to rent from the airport so you skip taking a taxi to and from your hotel.
