Drydocked:

Welcome.

Hope to see you at the get together.

Have you ever visited Point Pleasant before? If not request a hill top unit...they have the best (incredible) view.

Diving - I can help with that - as long as you don't want to dive on the 6th 😉 - BIG Parrothead party at Magen's that day....and I'm supposed to be there (being an officer and all, I guess I should go)...

Monday sounds interesting - THis would be my first 'gathering'...so I will do my darnedest to make it. I willknow more closer to the date though. If we're diving a LOT then I will have to get a nap 😉 - cold water takes it out of me 😀

Re- Future Islander, Our first time at P.P. We have a Superior Suite catagory any tips on what unit #s have the best views(the wrap around balconies look great.) Manta, Parrotheads on 6th sounds purfect, this just keeps getting better. Day before we fly( no diving). As for the diving, we are staying 3/1 & 3/2 on sw coast (BW) would like to dive a wreck and reef thusday (witshoal?) possibly with Blue Island. Would love to do the Rhone on friday(Chris Sawyer?). 3/3-3/7 at P.P. any suggestion for sat. and or sun. east end trips or operators. Dive In looks like most resonable prices. Or maybe a six pack charter for ourselves. Anyone else interested? All tips and suggestions will be greatly appreciated! (If we wern't all crazy, we would go insane!!)

Best units at P.P (imho) are the top of the hill units (Category D). Try to get a top unit (cathedral ceilling) and wrap around balcony. East End diving....Chris Sawyer at the American Yacht Harbor Building in Red Hook. Other East End things to do....visit St. John, Vost Van Dyke via ferry, or do a full day sail with lunch & drinks. A six pack charter sounds interesting....

btw...I have my "C" card also, but haven't gone in 3 years.

We're staying at P.P March 1-8, however we're owners there.

Well, if you want to email me off board I will be happy to give you another dive shop - small #s, personal service, etc... 😉

The Parrothead Party at Magen's is manly a private one, although with 300+ people. It is a group off of a cruise ship doing a Parrothead CRUISE...(man, would I love to do one of THOSE!!). THey wil have food catered as well as drinks - for which they are paying. I doubt they'd mind if you'd come down and mingle...but I did want to give you a heads up about the food & booze. The band that is traveling with them is coming to play. I can give you more info about that in a private email as well.

The WIT Shoal is an excellent (and deep - 90ft) wreck, and I think your best bet is Blue Island or Admiralty. It is too far for the east end dive shops. The Rhone - Chris Sawyer does that ONLY on Fridays, and it is an ALL DAY event for an "eh" dive. There are many wrecks around....it all depends on what you want to see. I can give you more scoop on what's around 🙂

AND YOU!!!! Future Islander....out of the water for THREE years? Ya should be horsewhipped 😉 (just kidding!). Come get WET! I would suggest either a refresher or a shore dive before going out on a boat, just to get a handle on your buoyancy & gear again....you'll be more comfy if you take that step - I promise 🙂

Great job of organizing FI! Unfortunately, Irene and I will be off-island (in the Grenadines) March 4-11, otherwise we'd be there. Have fun all!!

CE:

Yes. Point Pleasant is a very nice resort. We fell in love with the resort (really the view) 2 years ago....and bought a unit...we now visit whenever we can get away.

April is a very good month. Call them direct for the best rates (340-775-7200).

Remember to ask for a hill top unit...they have the best views. The property provides shuttle transportation to the beaches (Pineapple & Sugar beaches). I highly recommend renting a car as taxis are expensive.

Have a great trip where ever you decide to stay.

P.S. You'll love Fungi's (the beach bar at Point Pleasant). Agave is great for a romantic dinner (also at P.P).
