We're trying to figure out which beach to spend the day at while we're in port. We're looking for a beach that is calm, not rocky, and one that has a very gently slope into the water. I have a bit of a fear of water and dont' feel comfortable in water that drops off alot. Give me a large area of 3-4 feet depth and I'm happy...any more than that and I'm paranoid! Also would like a beach restaurant/bar nearby as well. Thanks!
Hello Christy,
I would say go with Magens Bay. It is a large beach with beach restaurant, bar, facilities. And more importantly to you it deepens gradually and is very calm and the water is pretty much always very clear all of which should make you feel more comfortable.

I would agree with Magens as the perfect choice - but I would also note that from what I know of most of our beaches here, none, drop off suddenly and are non-threatening from that standpoint. As noted, Magens has pretty calm water compared to some, depending on the day of course.
Secret Harbor is also a hideaway choice that is wondefully calm and has a resturant as well - perhaps not as easy or speedy to get to as Magens, but a bit more out of the beaten path as a VI beach.
Definitely Megans. You have to go out a bit to get to deeper water at Megans and it's about as calm as you can get.
