What time of year are these ripe and where can I buy some? also, are there any other native fruit that I can try while in St. John?
thanks
Dean
There are a few trees on Maho Beach where they are free. Lay on the beach and need snack reach up and grap some.
Genips ripen July - September. I don't know about STJ but people sell them on the roadside in STT. I have a HUGE tree and every year we have a "Genips for Crits" day where kids and adults come from the Humane Society and pick and sell. Just don't eat TOO many as they're an oldtime remedy for "Montezuma's Revenge"...
Hello Dean,
Banana Figs, soursop, sugarapple, tamarind, ... those are some. You can read up and see a few pictures in the Fruits section of Flora & Fauna on this site; here is the link https://www.vinow.com/general_usvi/flora_fauna/fruit.php.

thanks so much for all the great information. I was hoping to get a taste of some of these fruits in May, but I guess that's kind of early....
