Hi. Newbie to this board. We're heading to St. John at the end of next month for our honeymoon. Staying at Gallows Point. In general, are there island activities that require advance reservations (catamaran trips, etc.)? We're obviously a little early in our planning stages, so any advice would be appreciated.
Hi,
We just got back from our honeymoon in St. John a couple of weeks ago. We had a great time there. I would recommend taking a day trip to the British Virgin Isles. We took New Horizons II and had a great time! You need to make reservations in advance though. I think their website is Newhorizonscharters.com
Hope you have a great time.

Hello Jackie,
I would recommend e-mailing/calling to check on reservations for things like fising charters, daysails... more so if you had a particular one you wanted to go on. Its not that they might be full (because its off season) but more so that some boats leave the area during the hurricane season - so you may just want to make sure they are staying/will be here when you are.
For restaurants, you can call the same day or day before once on island.

We just got back from St. John last week and stayed at Gallows. If you plan on renting a vehicle, do reserve that ahead of time. We didn't do any trips. We found that we didn't have time. We will next time though. We went to all of the beaches and snorkeled. The gift shop at Gallows can arrange everything. Call them and ask them all of your questions. They arrange day trips also. If you plan to eat at ZoZo's, make a reservation and sit at the bar for the best sunset view. We had a great time and loved Gallows. We had a great sunset view from our room. I really miss it and am suffering from post-vacation depression. Have a great time!
