will be staying at the Bolongo in June any suggestions of things to not miss? How about to stay away from? Are sand fleas really a problem? Or just hype?

Thanks.

Sand fleas...known as "no-see-ums" in the islands can be a probem for many, some not at all. I have been bitten up with itches that have lasted for weeks and other times, nothing but me. Usually happens around dusk, almost always around the ankles although I have seen some badly bitten on the arms. You need a bug spray with DEET, do not use on babies...not available here but you can buy it there, oterwise deep woods OFF works for some. I think if you are diabetic, you get more bites, your blood is sweeter. The worst reactions happen to those allergic to the little buggers but how would you know....

Don't miss either the Caribbean night or the All You Can Eat Crablegs night at Bolongo. The former having entertainment, the latter karaoke.

Hope this helps!

Iggie's Beach Bar which is part of the Bolongo resort family does have a great All You Can Eat Crab Nite on Tues. with karaoke and then on Sat. with a small live band (sorry, forgot their name and don't know what genre they play). It is $30.00 pp, so it is a great deal if you love crab legs!!! (They only take orders for AYCE crab nite between the hours of 6pm and 9pm)

No-see-ums bother me a lot and so do the mosquitos, so I always have OFF in my car. When I have dinner at Iggie's, I wear socks, sneakers, and semi-long sleeved shirt. They do supply Off to their patrons, if you ask.

Have fun!
