I will be staying at the Morningstar portion of this hotel in April.. I have seen many varying reviews of this property (particularly the Frenchman's Reef section). Has anyone visited recently that can provide some feedback as to their experience, likes and dislikes.

Not to send you to another site, but tripadvisor has extensive ratings on both Morningstar and Frenchman's Reef...Morningstar consistently ranks better and is a much more quaint, almost 'bed and breakfast' boutique hotel compared to the 485 room Frenchman's Reef

As of May 1, 2011, approximately two thirds of the Frenchman's Reef portion of the resort will be closed for renovations but the Morningstar beachfront accommodations will be functional as usual and are scheduled for renovations in 2012. Hopefully some recent visitors will give you current experiences and updates but apart from the usual and customary beefs about any resort which doesn't live up to expectations of 5-star grandeur which some visitors expect (!) I've heard no major complaints.

Rent a car and visit some of the East end beaches (Smith Bay Park, Sapphire, Secret Harbour) which are far superior and take a hop over to St John for a most unique experience where beaches and snorkeling are concerned. Have fun!

Thank you for your input, do you have any thoughts about Lindquist beach? I've looked into it and it seems quite nice.

Lindqvist is now renamed Smith Bay Park and is under the management of the Magens Bay Authority. It's a beautiful spot and easily accessible from the Smith Bay Road, Rte 38. There is a small entrance fee and facilities to date include toilets, security and some benches but no vendors as yet.
