If you'll click over to the next page and scroll down about 1/2 way, you'll see another discussion about Frenchman's Reef that may answer a lot of your questions.

As for "over there" are you talking about St. John? I've only spent a few hours on St. John, but have been doing a lot of research for my trip back next May. There are tons of places to eat on St. John, some expensive, some not so expensive. Depends on what you're looking for, I suppose. 🙂

If you want to take your rental car over, you'll have to go to Redhook, as that's where the car barges leave from. If you don't want to take your car, then there is a passenger ferry that leaves from Charlotte Amalie as well as Redhook.

tony: if you're talking about taking the ferry to Red Hook, you'd still have to get to the Charlotte Amalie waterfront to take the ferry to Red Hook. I'm not sure where the little Frenchman's Reef "Reefer" drops off on the waterfront but wherever, it wouldn't be too much of a walk to the ferry dock if you wanted to go to St John for the day.

But, since you have a rental car, then drive all over. Red Hook isn't the only place to eat on St Thomas by any matter of means! Do your research on this forum and you'll find a lot of suggestions - plus when you get here there will be plenty of publications for you to look through and road maps for you to pore over. Resort food isn't the best and usually quite expensive so get out there and explore. Have a wonderful visit!
