Hi, we are planning a trip this July in St. Thomas. I was wondering if there is anything neat to do for the Fourth of July. Also, I know it is probably posted on here a million of times, but what restaurants on the island do you recommend? Thanks so much!

July 4th is Carnival (Festival) on St John. There is a ton of activity over there.

On STT, last year (07), we came back to STT from STJ around dinner time and went to the Ritz. You get a distant view of the fireworks, and there was live music out at the pool bars/restaurant area, which are next to the beach. Seems like a good place to dine al fresco, listen to live music, have drinks and watch the fireworks.

Others may have betetr suggestions for STJ dining spots....but we were ready to get away from the crowds by dinner time, after being at Carnival all day.

Have fun. We go for July 4th most years. It's hot - take very little clothing.

Ditto Bluwater's suggestion of heading to St. John for the Carnival parade on 4th of July. You can find information and photos of Carnival events including the parade on this site, here is the link https://www.vinow.com/general_usvi/carnival/.

We always head down the end of June for a couple of weeks. Lots of carnival stuff going on STJ for 4/5 days leading up to July 4th parade day. Carnival Village opens about 4 days before with music every night. Lots of food booths open.
And the great parade on the 4th.

Blu, just like the Macy's T-Day parade, right?????

Lots of photos on my picture site of the parade from a bunch of years.

The first time we went to St Thomas it was over the July 4th holiday. We sat on the beach at Sapphire and watched the fireworks they set off in St John. We have returned every year since (and sometimes twice a year). We'll be there for the celebration again this year and we'll be on St John for Carnival for the 3rd or 4th time.

we live here on STT right above sapphire beach and do not miss the carnival. But beware it is a SLOW moving and it can be hot as hell. But the colors are wonderful and the wole thing is an expierence.

We rent places out also.,

Promo, yeah, it's just like the Macys Parade......everything moving on time, perfectly choreographed, lots of celebrities, etc...

Nah, it's nothing like Macy's...but much more fun. I expecially like the part where the popular band truck will move the entire parade route to the side because they are coming BACK DOWN the route in the opposite direction of everyone else so they take their place at the beginning can repeat the entire route again!! Never saw that in Macys!
