Is st. John the only island having fireworks on the 4th? Are there any fireworks on St. Thomas on the 4th of July. What time are the fireworks?

Thanks

The fireworks on St John are for the end of Festival as well as the 4th. Some of the hotels on St Thomas, especially the Ritz, have 4th of July fireworks. You would need to check when you are here.

The fireworks on St. John are at 9pm over Cruz Bay Harbor.

Are there extra ferries running on the 4th between STT and STJ? Want to go over with two young girls. Wondering what to expect?

Hello Starfish,

Comments are from experience with the Red Hook ferry: During the major St. John Carnival events there is usually extra ferry service to accommodate the increased demand. On the 4th, which is the day of the parade, there are usually ferries running about every 30 minutes rather than every hour. If you are staying for the fireworks and village closing, you might ask the ticket person when you head over, what time the ferry is operating until for that night & what time the departures are at.

You can expect a line of excited, relatively friendly people on the St. Thomas end if you are heading over in the am around the time the parade starts; so get there like 15-20 minutes prior to the departure time you want to be on. If you miss it, its ok, there will be another one shortly. If you wait until the last ferry coming back in the night during an event like a concert in the village or the fireworks you can expect a line of somewhat patient people with a few pushy people in the mix and a few that have had a little too many drinks, that are tired and grumpy.

When you buy your ticket to go over to St. John, buy a round trip so you avoid the ticket line on return trip.

Enjoy!
