Hi All,

My husband and I are going to ST John from Nov 15-27th. We got a long way to go but are enjoying the trip reports and all the great info we have been getting from this site. Once again, thanks to everyone that contributes.

I have started a list of people that will be there at this time. Anybody else? Let's make plans to meet at Woody's or wherever for cocktails. Maybe we could all get together for a party on the beach. Haven't ever had a painkiller but assume the pain comes back with a vengeance the next morning Maybe at that time another painkiller would relieve it?

Oh, I heard there is going to be a charity event on the weston beach during this time. All the island restaurants will be serving there famous dishes and drinks. There will be music, dancing and much merriment (or so I hear). I think the STJ rotary club sponsers it. Anyone else here of this? I'm not sure of the date.

If you are referring to "The Taste of St John" it is a wonderful event for food 🙂 and I think it is in the $100+ per person range, tickets in advance - no date has been set - not 100% sure it will be held this year or not but fingers crossed it will 🙂

Pia,

I'm a newbie here. Do you live on the island? The event sounds great. Hopefully they will have it again this November. Hopefully we will be there when they do.

Hi Naturegirl.

I go every year at that time. Usually I fly out on Thanksgiving morning... I wish it were November already....

You, me and everyone traveling in November. How many in your party Moho? I was thinking if we have a few small groups going we can share a boat to the BVI's. Born to Rhumb looks great or we can take other suggestions.

For all the vets and especially those who are lucky enough to live on St John, would you bother going to BVI's on your first visit or spend the time on St John itself getting to know it? I'm in a quandary. We love to hike and the snorkeling looks amazing although I will have to conquer my shark fear just to get into the water. We rent houses almost everytime we vacation because we love to cook and have our own place to come home to at the end of the day.

Thanks Pia (lucky girl),

How long have you been living on St John? Any recommendations of things to do as a St John virgin?

Naturegirl,

The BVI is great also. Definitely visit Jost Van Dyke for a relaxing day of lounging on the beach drinking pain killers.
St. John is the island to spend most of your time snorkeling and relaxing on the beach. I usually rent a jeep and go to a different beach every day. Then in the afternoon I head down to the beach bar for a few drinks. Later I take a shower and go out for dinner and a glass or two or thee of wine. Sleep and repeat....

I would LOVE to go! I am a foodie of sorts and this is right up my alley...except for the crowd part. I shy away from crowds... but a glass or two of wine usually helps! It happens to be on my birthday, so I may just treat myself. If I don't make it, I hope some one posts about it. I guess my biggest concern about going is that a lot of the local functions that are held at the Westin draw some of the islands most snooty. I'm definitely not into the snooty crowd! I would hate to spend the money and have my appetite ruined by to many familiar (snooty) faces. Ahh.... the struggles of living on a small island!!! (ha! ha!, this place is a beautiful place to live once you figure out how to live in a fish bowl)
