These recipes are especially for the northern people who managed to leave the ice and snow and are now enjoying the warm breeze of the islands.

Margarita Slushes: Recipe courtesy Rachael Ray - 30 Minute Meals - Dr. Meal Good

1 lime, juiced, plus 2 lime slices, for garnish - 2 scoops lemon sorbet - 4 scoops lime sherbet - 4 shots tequila - 1/2 shot Triple Sec or other orange liqueur. Place all ingredients in blender and process on high. Pour into glasses and garnish wiht a round slice of lime.
I love Margarita's, but never thought of using sherbet or sorbet. Gotta try this if you like Margarita's. (tu)

Root Beer Bomb: Recipe courtesy Rachael Ray - 30 Minute Meals - Beans and Franks

1 pint butter pecan ice cream - 4 juggers spiced rum (recommended: Captain Morgan) - Cold root beer. Pour spiced rum into a tall glass and top with root beer. Place a scoop of ice cream on rim of glass and serve with a long spoon and a straw.
The picture speaks for it self 😛

As always, you don't have to use alcohol to enjoy these drinks! 😀

See you in paradise 😛

I particularly enjoy the QAC - "Quiet Afternoon Cocktail". Vodka, Fresca, splash of Cran. Or, Vodka, a splash of Fresca and a splash of Cran.

To really make it VI-friendly....Forget the Vodka and use CRUZAN RUM (any flavor will do :)!!!)

Hmmmmm.....rum......I sometimes start my QAC's before noon and am thinking Vodka is more of a "morning" alcohol than rum. Maybe I read that in the Joy of Cooking book......the older version. When JOY started publishing without the cocktail/drink section I wrote a letter to complain. Now I understand they are including that section again - must have been my letter 😉 . I'm stll using my JOY from the 80s. Has had a few drinks spilled on it but I can still make out the print. *-)

SandyandBob, Did you ever try puting your rum bottles in the freezer? That is the first thing we do upon arrival. You will be surprised how delicious all the flavors are simply on the rocks:P

Try it - you just might like it 😉

That sounds DANGEROUS!!! 😉

I'm a Bourbon drinker and from experience I can tell you that enjoying a drink or two "neat" or "on the rocks" can get out of hand easily even on a liquor like Bourbon. I cannot imagine how easy it would be to "fall in love" with a tumbler of ice-cold flavored rum!

Great idea! Just watch out!

I never have more than two - that's my limit. But, OH how good that first one tastes - at the end of a day spent in the sun and water (tu)

Enjoy the weather down there because it's freezing cold up here in north 🙁
