Just a question: Are food stamps ( The New York State Benefit Identification Card) honored in St. Thomas and St. John
grocery stores?
I could be wrong but I would tend to doubt it. NY would probably have questions about why you needed to buy groceries in the USVI.
You might want to ask your caseworker that question.

Nothing says, "I'm on vacation" like food stamps in the Caribbean.
I read this post and truly hoped it was joke. Please tell me someone has not booked a vacation to the USVI and wants to shop with Food Stamps. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I cannot stop and think it is time to lower the flag and say it was a great ride.

We do not need to know Who is John Gault.
We need to know where he is John Gault!
Let's not rush to judgement. This could be a relative of an islader, traveling to drop off children for the summer and hoping to shop for a few groceries for them before returning ot the states. Many children travel to the states for the US education in the school system and then return to relatives in the islands for the summer.
In any event, I agree that the caseworker is the best source for this info. I would bet that they stamps aren't accepted.
