Hi Everyone,
I hope you can help me. I have very severe food allergies (I wear a MedicAlert bracelet) so therefore I will have to have alot of food with me, for the long flight there and home, but also to make sure I have things to eat.
I read that you cannot bring fruits or veggies back OUT of ST into the States. Here are my questions:
1) Where is customs? At ST airport before you leave? In Miami when I land?
2) Can I bring anything I want IN to ST?
3) If I have sealed, never-opened fruits, like raisins, dried apples, etc., and I brought them into ST, and I try to leave with them, unopened, can I take them home? It is clearly marked on the label that they are produced/packaged in the US.
4) Are other foods ok to bring on the plane out of ST, besides fruits and veggies?
This is a huge deal for me, since I have to have food with me at all times, and I'm having trouble getting an accurate answer.
I guess if no one can answer with a great degree of confidence, can you recommend where I can get the REAL story?
Thank you so very much,
Debbie
1.) At the airport in STT.
2.) Yes...except a gun, unless you have a permit.
3.) Never opened fruits? Haha! J/K! Yes, packaged foodstuffs, like raisins, are OK to fly with. The regulation is regarding things like mangoes, banannas, breadfruit, etc., that you pick yourself, or purchase at a fruit stand. Canned ort packaged is fine.
5.) Canned or packaged, yes.
