Thanks,

Hello Sparky,

No daily ferry service from PR to STT. The only one that does this route is

Transportation Services operate a ferry between Cruz Bay, St. John; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas and Fajardo, Puerto Rico. The trip takes two hours each way. Tickets are $60 one way and $100 round trip. The ferry leaves twice a month on Friday in the mid-afternoon. It returns on Sunday. Advance purchase is required. It is suggested you call (340)776-6282 for more details and specific dates and times.

Your best bet is to fly.

I just checked Seaborne and American Airlines (Eagle). Both were about the same price...$180 - $200 round trip from SJU to STT and back in February. Seaborne would be my choice...just because I've never been in a float plane, although American or American Eagle have many flights in and out of SJU and STT everyday. Flights on either take about 30 minutes.

Hi Guys,

I read about Seaborne, but it is so much better to talk to you about these things. Many people are trying to sell me on stuff and untill I get there I would have no idea if what I,m reading is "all it's cracked up to be" but then I read the board and someone else has already checked it out. It's great. Thanks so much.

Hello,

While the Seaplane will be a fun/different ride it doesn't fly out of the airport - so if you are flying from the states and are at the San Juan airport, you will have to collect your luggage and take a cab to the Seaplane. Depending on when you get in or how long your flight was you might not want to do this - you might rather just get on a regular plane leaving from the airport. If you are visiting Puerto Rico then choose which ever - no biggie there.

The only truoble about Seaborne is luggage restrictions. They only allow like 30 pounds and anything over that is $.50 a pound! No security checks.

All the airlines flying from San Juan to either STT or STX have defacto luggare restrictions.

We had people visiting us over Christmas who made connection through San Juan on American Eagle. The planes were fully booked with passengers so American Eagle left their baggage behind. Everyone eventually got their suitcases, but it took two days. Same issue with people connecting on Cape Air.

American Eagle flys the biggest planes between San Juan. Cape Air & Air Sunshine use smaller general aviation aircraft. These planes can only carry a limited amount of weight. If a couple of passengers are in the clydesdale class and everyone has lots of heavy bags something or someone is going to be left behind.
