Has anyone heard of whether this site is legit- www.flycheapabroad.com ??

I am still poking around for decent fares for our June 18th departure from Nashville to (STT) St. John

They are still sky-high and I saw a couple of posts on Tripadvisor about this site-

I am on hold for them right now and they I'm listening to VERY cheesy piano music - not a good sign

Thanks for the help

Oh my god now I'm hearing an Air Supply song - this cannot be good

And YES they are legit....It's easy to use their reservations online....

I'm going to the Virgin Islands from Atlanta in June also. Every time I go to flycheapabroad.com, the booking engine is "out of service," and I am to call the toll-free number. Can I not make a reservation online(or at least check out the fares), or am I blindly missing something?

Hi Janet,

We booked our tickets via their online booking service through flycheapabroad.com in February. I have been back to their site just to check the rates and noticed the online service has been down for weeks now. I don't think you are missing something. You may want to just call them and ask what is going on with their website. It is a bit of a bummer their online booking site is down. When it worked it was very easy to use and quite nice.

We have called the actual airlines and are tickets have been ticketed and we appear good to go. We saved over $800.00 through them. Everywhere else at that time it was $800 per round trip ticket from California to St Thomas but with flycheapabroad we paid only $400 per roundtrip ticket.

Good Luck,

SoCalGal

This is very discouraging- I called FlycheapAbroad.com and the lowest RT rates to STT from Nashville, TN are about $850-

On CheapTickets.com it's $900 today

It looks like I may not go if it's that high- $2,000 for two of just on air/fare is pretty steep-

Does anyone have a suggestion

we are planning on 6/18- I think I can hold out til' about 5/1 before asking for a refund from the hotel

Thanks

If you can go 6/1 for a week, US Air is offering $450 RT.

Thanks for the tip but I can't go any week except 6/18-25-
It took months of juggling to get the time off which I don't usually take in the summer

Oh well maybe they'll come down

Try bestfares.com. I've used them in the past and been pleased.

Tried them yesterday for 6/22-27. Very nice folks, but not the price it "should" be. By "should be", I mean the shorter notice prices for the winter season, or approximately $350 from the Washington area.

Wow jima I can see your dilemma...Prices out of Nashville for your dates are over $800!! Whew, that's steep!
Is there any airport within a 3 or 4 hour drive that you could possibly fly out of?? Maybe they would have cheaper airfare for your dates.....

It looks like your problem is 2 fold. You are traveling during the 'slow' period and live in Nashville. Following Debbiest lead, you can fly from Atlanta for $629. Probably worth the trip down I24 & I75.

Another alternative is Chicago. Longer drive but flights at $575 RT.
For the extra $108, I would pick Atlanta.

I've never posted to this message board before but have been reading it to help with our up coming trip to STJ. We spent about 3 weeks or so looking for flights from Knoxville to STT. Finally booked them at $554, they had been about $851. Everytime, the cheapest we found was at usairways.com. I would suggest going to orbitz and locating the flight you want and watch it everyday. I would especially look at flights by us air. For us they were the most direct and ended up being the cheapest directly through usair. You can also monitor seat availibility through orbitz easier (i think). We just last week got our tickets for the end of May. So my guess (only a guess) is that you still have some time to watch flight prices before booking anything. Just check seat availabilities to make sure they're not getting booked up. Good luck.

TRY WWW.SIDESTEP.COM - THEY OFTEN HAVE THE BEST PRICES. ALTHOUGH, MUST ADMIT THAT I HAVE BEEN CHECKING OUT PRICES FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS AND FLYING AFTER JUNE 15 SEEMS TO BE THE KICKER. EVERYONE'S PRICES JUMP AFTER THAT. AMERICAN AIRLINES OFTEN HASE GOOD DEALS IN ADDITION TO US AIR.

I would probably drive to Atlanta maybe but that makes for one long trip- and my wife would shoot me-

I am going to just wait it out a few weeks and hope I get lucky-

Thanks for your help everyone- I really appreciate it- this is our first vacation in years- we have reservations at Gallows Bay and I really hope I don't have to change destinations-

Thanks again

Jim

While I feel your pain on the airfare (same for us out of Houston), if this really is your first vacation in years you need to bite the bullet and stay with STJ. My wife and I stayed at Caneel 17 years ago and thought we were going 'over the top' given our past vacation budgets.
Knowing what we do now about STJ, we would have paid more than we did. It's easy for me to make decisions with your money but once you get there you'll be thinking "How do we get back here next year?" We did 17 years ago and still do with each trip.

jima,There is a good chance the airfares to St Thomas will drop by mid-May. The prices to St Thomas are always flunctuation soooo much.
One minute it's $880 RT,the next it's $300 RT.
We'll just keep our fingers crossed and hope you too can get a good airfare!!
