I am looking for feedback from anyone who might be able to help. We are getting married in a few months on St. John. It will be just myself, my fiance, my sister and her husband. We received an estimate of almost $300 for 2 bouquets. I thought that was very excessive, especially given the fact that no decisions have been made regarding the design or flowers used in the bouquets.
Any input is appreciated from the forum group.
Thanks.
Bouquets tend to be made of flowers from the states, which must be flown here, hence the price. You could discuss you cost concern with the florist and s/he may have alternate suggestions. If not, it may be possible to bring bouquets with you. Alternatively you can see if anything is blooming when you get here and clip and carry some local blossoms.
That is about right, like the PP said, since all the flowers have to be shipped in overnight-ish, the cost is high.
Check with East End Flowers in Red Hook to give you a better idea on prices.
I was married in October and I just clipped flowers for my bouquet. I used bougainvillea (white and fuchsia), just cut the thorns off, wrapped the end in tape and covered with a scarf. It was PERFECT for a island beach wedding and free! Because of the heat and humidity here, other flowers tend to wilt very quickly.
