Flim Festival? Is that anything like a slip-slop? 🙂

We had a big one for a couple of years in the 70s. Don't know of any current ones.

DreamConch, it all depends on how you want to define film festivals. I think UVI has what they call a foreign film festival (or international or global) every year, and show art house films that Caribbean Cinemas didn't show.

FirstBank sponsors a film festival at the Pistarkle Theater at Tillett Gardens with a different theme each year. I think last year it was new directors, and I remember seeing a very funny film which I wish I could remember the name of. I think the series is going on now - they've show one movie so far, but I don't remember seeing the full schedule.

There might be one more, but I can't remember who sponsors it.

These usually consist of a different movie showing each week for about 4-6 weeks, and cost more than the regular movie ticket. Hollywood or Cannes they're not, but they do help us maintain the barest of cultural literacy when it comes to films.
