I'll be vacationing in August for 2 weeks and I'm interested in fishing from the shore. I've seen people fishing from Francis Bay. Is there any other good places to fish and what do you use- bait or lures? Any recommendations? Thanks.

The best place to fish on STJ would probably have to be Trunk Bay. I fish there all the time and I catch mad fish. Happy Fishing!

Where at Trunk Bay? What kind of bait do you use?

Donny - David is messing with you (but you knew that right?) Here are the National Park "rules" on fishing - and you can see no fishing in swim area's (kind of makes it tough to fish from shore - period) and no fishing on Trunk or Jumbie - just scroll down untill you find the section on "fishing"

DonnyD- Don't waste your time fishing!! Enjoy the scenery and put the pole down. I am a bass fisherman in the midwest and cannot wait to spend time on the water but when in the islands I can actually relax and enjoy! Give it a shot and see if you don't agree!!!!!!!

Fresh bait is good. Live ones are better. As for lures, 1/4 oz Kasmaster in silver works. Early am (sunrise) is the time to go. Another alternative would be late afternoon (sunset).

As for locations, any place with structure (rocks) is a good place to start.

It's your vacation, do what makes you relax.... fishing included.

Tight lines!
