Ok, let's make it a threesome! I will be in STJ in a couple of weeks and will do a couple of half days offshore but will also try some light tackle from the shore. So let's hear it out there as to what someone has done!

Also, if there's another couple in STJ during the first week of March and would like to share an offshore trip let me know.

Jim

Anyone out there have any experience shore fishing from STT or STJ that they would like to share with us? Where to go? What to use? What to expect? Curious minds want to know.

Patrick,
What island do you fish, what type of tackle/equipment do you use & what is your success rate? Anyone else with any knowledge of fishing from shore on St. John or Thomas I would love to hear about your experiences.

I can't believe no one has any advice or knowledge on this subject. Or maybe they do and they don't want to share it. It seems like a lot of people are interested in the shore fishing from STT & STJ. It would be nice to be pointed in the right direction rather than spend time looking for a decent place and trying different methods of fishing in the short time we have there. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

I'm with you, Ryan. It would seem that fishing is not one of the "hot activities" in the Virgins, although I know there's plenty of good fishing to be had. I'm going down on the 26th for 9 days. Will let you know what I do.

Also, just in case (right!) anyone wants to share an offshore trip during the week of 2/28 let me know.

Damn!! You had me all excited someone actually answered our questions. I would really like to hear about your fishing experiences when you get back.

Jim, do you plan on doing any shore fishing or just the offshore charter. My wife and I are chartering an inshore trip in April for tarpon, bonefish, etc. I am bringing some of my own fishing gear to fish from shore during our trip also.
Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your successful fishing trip

Hey,

I would like to know too. I am going in July from Maine and will bring my pole. ANY info would be helpful.

I'm doing a couple of half days offshore. The bill fish aren't around but there should be some Whahoo, dolphin and small tuna.

As to shore fishing I'm also bringing some light tackle for some reef/rock fishing. Just looking to feel the "tug on the line" sort of thing. I've only fished once for bones (in Belize) had a good time (loads of fish!) but it's just not my bag.

Will fill you in when I get back.

I hope your trip went well. How did you do in the fishing Dept? Any experiences, techniques, or advice on shore fishing would be greatly appreciated. We leave on the 3rd and we are getting very excited about our trip.
