ive never been to st thomas my son and i would like to fish locally can anyone give me tips on what bait or tackle to use .

what kind of fish can be caught on the banks of st thomas is a permit needed can u buy bait to fish with

Bonefish, tarpon, shark, rays, jacks, mackerel, snapper, permit, barracuda..... just to name a few.

A permit is needed if you are fishing within park waters in the east end. Otherwise none is needed. Of course, no fishing within swimming areas. As for buying baitfish, no idea. We use artificial lures. Little silver 1/4 oz Kastmasters work well. Swim baits are good too.

I use frozen squid for bait. It's cheap, and you can get it at almost any grocery store in the freezer section.
