Evening all!
For our 10th anniversary, my wife and I have been planning to visit the VI. I'm all ready to start booking our lodging, etc. We plan to stay at Maho Bay and spend most of our time on St. Johns - we're not the resort type. Just some questions: When is the cheapest time of the year to visit? When is the weather usually the best (avoiding hurricanes, monsoons, etc)? Which side of St John does the wind blow from (I like the sea breeze at night)? Any other non-toursity recommendations?
Thank you for your help. I love this website!!

The off-season at Maho runs from May through mid-December. Rates are significantly cheaper during that period. Peak hurricane season is probably from mid-August through September. We've stayed at Maho (among other places on STJ) and enjoy it. I'd suggest that you get a guidebook or two. We use "Fee. Fins and 4wd" and "St John: Off the Beaten Track". Either is good. There's some overlap, but each has some stuff that the other doesn't. We never left STJ until our third trip there. We'd intended to take a day sail to the BVI sooner , but there was always so much we wanted to do and see on STJ that we just never left the island.
