My wife & I are visiting St. Thomas on 9/13 (barring any unforeseen weather issues). We are staying at the marriot resort on St. Thomas for 5 days and i was looking for some advice on day sails , scuba outfitter, restaurants to visit & St. Johns. We will have a rental car for the whole visit.

Any advice or tips would be great. We are both in our late 30's and are looking to kick back and relax.

Thanks

Hi Patty,

I haven't taken the sunset catamaran cruise to Water Island, but it sure sounds like fun. I would pack some bug spray, better yet I like the "Bug and Sun" combo. I don't have a problem with the bugs, but the no-seeums at the beach love to feast on my husband. They do have the Safari's on STJ, but if you'd already rented a car I would take it, STJ is a great island to explore, so much to see. It's about $40-$50 round trip. One word of caution, the car ferry doesn't stay open as late as the passenger ferry. I also wouldn't wait until the last minute to catch the ferry dock just to be certian that you have a spot on the last ferry back or you could end up spending the night or taking the passenger ferry back and return in the morning to get your car.

Have a great time,

Molly

During our trip in May we had a lot of fun scuba diving from shore at Hull Bay. There is a scuba operator there called Homers Dive Shop. It is right on the beach and there is a real nice and easy dive that runs 20-45 ft from the base of the boat ramp along the eastern shore of Hull Bay. As for the BVI's, we used New Horizons II and had a great time with them. Highly recommended from others on this forum as well. Have a great time in STT(tu)

Connie: Homer is one of the foremost scuba instructors on St Thomas. He worked for the top scuba op for many years before branching out on his own. I am sure he does a discover scuba course. He was my instructor for open water and advanced open water and I know I never thought I would be able to dive. Highly recommend him. (tu) (tu)

He also does a night snorkel tour. If you have never been in the sea at night, it is also recommended.
