Hi everybody!!!

My Fiance and I are getting Married May 5th and are going to St. Thomas for our Honeymoon beginning May 12th and will be there for a week. We love to do just about anything "touristy" and scuba dive also.

I was hoping that we might be able to get the best advice from everyone here as to what we should absolutely do while we are there and what we should stay away from. Everything from activies to taxis, to restaurants and so on.

Thanks for your advice in advance!!!

-Steve

First off congrates to you have a long happy life together. I'd rent a jeep ll save you money in the long run over taxis.Second make sure you go over to St John for at least a day if you rent from the right car rental company you can take your jeep over on the car ferry and explore the island as you want. If it was me i'd take the car ferry over one leave the car and come back lat that day on the people ferry after dinner and drinks then go back over the next day do some more exploring and take the car ferry back.

Thanks Waterguy!!! We really appreciate the advice we are going to call to see if we can get a jeep today! Any other tips for our stay in St. Thomas? Activities or anything we should or shouldn't do? Thanks!!!

Snorkel! for sure! We also liked kayaking. Go to St. John and visit the beaches there. You can also the see sugar mill ruins..those are fantastic. There are fun hiking trails on St. John as well, if you like that sort of thing.

Slackey: I am always amazed at how folks program every minute when they come here on vacation. Since it is your honeymoon, you might want to just relax and enjoy each other's company! 😉 Okay, but if you want my opinion...there are romantic restaurants like Old Stone Farmhouse ($$$), Indigo ($$), local restaurants like Cuzzin's ($-$$), by-the-sea restaurants like Mim's ($$), beach bar/restaurants like Iggie's ($) and HullBay Hideaway ($)- try some of each!

If you have never been, try an island tour with a knowledgable taxi driver- maybe someone can name the ones who have graduated from the hospitality school... It is a good way to get the lay of the land, see the tourist spots (usually wonderful photo ops.)

Scuba diving with Chris Sawyer Dive Center. The Friday trip to the Rhone is a classic. (Bring your passport and your favorite beverage for the trip back from the BVI.) Lots of snorkeling from the beaches around here.

May 13th is Mother's Day, the biggest holiday of the year besides Christmas! Sunday brunch at the Ritz or even Caneel on St John ($$$ but memorable!) Call ahead for reservations anywhere that day!

Don't forget to just sit on the beach or float in the water and talk about your hopes for the years to come. Best wishes...

I like the idea of leaving our car overnight on STJ, so we can spend a couple of days exploring, but wonder what sort of liability that would create with Budget, our rental company. Comments?

We're staying on St. Thomas and visiting St. John for a few day trips this summer.

We plan to leave our car overnight in Slimman's parking lot (a secure, lit parking lot I'm told) on St. John for $10. I have in my notes that Slimman's is across from Wharfside Village, near the Catholic church.
