Our familly has never been on an island vacation and after reading this message board, we are convinced STJ is perfect. Our trip is August 7 thru 15. We are taking our 15 year old son. I have booked two beachfront rooms(connecting hopefully) but wonder if one room would suffice for the three of us. They also had offered a one bedroom bilevel suite (no kitchen) but it is up the hill with no view. Suite is 529/night, the beachfront rooms are 355 per room. Much more expensive for the two rooms on the beach. Why two room?...husband snores! How are these rooms, any suggestions/advice greatly appreciated. I can't wait for experience what all of you have been talking about!

Another place to look is http://www.vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner). There are a bunch of St. John rentals on that site.

So, from building 32 the walk is not bad (even in August)? I don't think 32 has a good view (no ocean view). On one site it said building 32 was 500 yards from the pool and across a street.

Would we take our rental jeep down to the pool if the teenager wanted to hang out or take the shuttle or walk? Hubby has a little bit of a bum knee.

Many thanks again for the info!

Four months and counting!

500 yards is probably about right. You're across South Shore Rd but still on the grounds of the Westin. If you take the car you still have to walk a bit to the pool, so if walking is a problem (bum knee), take the shuttle and they'll take you right to the pool.

We're in bldg 31, right next to 32. You're part way up a hill and you can see the ocean from there, but it's not an expansive view as there's hills in the distance to the right that block some of the view.

Enjoy!
