Pete,

First off, hopefully you are talking about St. John (no-s) in the United States Virgin Islands. If so, I can recommend Hawksnest Beach as a good place to get married. The parking lot is close to the beach and with it being somewhat warm and possibly humid in July, the proximity of a vehicle with air-conditioning is a big plus, especially to your bride. It is shady and there is a Pavilion with Picnic Tables there. While you might think that your wedding is somewhat unusual, it is truly amazing the number of people getting married there and at other locations on St. John. Cruz Bay is called Love City for a reason!

Just got married May 4th on Hawksnest. Great choice if you have guest coming (we did). There is plenty of shade, bbq grills, picnic tables, and changing area, bathrooms too................but try your best NOT to use those. Water is not to rough. It is a little windy there. Must have a wind protector for your video camera or all you will here is the wind. We had a videographer Tommy Ferrell and we picked up our food at 9pm the night before from Uncle Joes bbq. All 7 were very very happy with the food. It was easy and good. It came in tins ready to place on grill and ...........perfection. Good eating! We did not know what was best the Chicken Ribs or Steak. The cole slaw was excellent. We had a 945am wedding. After 1/2 the day at Hawksnest we then packed up and moved to very calm MAHO bay right off the side of the road. Shade is hard to find at this spot. It is one of my favorites. Great for sunsets. No grills, tables or bathrooms here. Best wishes and congrats!
