Well folks, after much research and help from friends out there in cyber-land, I think I have narrowed my villa choices for next summer down to two: Mango Bay and Las Brisas Caribe. My husband is leaning towards LBC because he loves the STT views at night and the full ac (for humid and hot summer days). I can go either way. Mango Bay does have ac in bedrooms which may be enough for the north shore exposure. I would like anyones opinion who has stayed at either. I'm really interested in the quality of the views of each.

As always,thank you!

These both look like great homes. From the pix it looks like a lot of the view from LBC is obstructed by vegetation, at least from the main living areas. You might want to check that with the agency. I've always been partial to the north shore, but the pool area seems a little closed in by vegetation too, which might limit the breezes and maybe even the amount of sun in that past of the house.

I know for a fact that LBC does not have water views from the pool. I'm not too sure about the main living areas. I know the master suite (which is on the third level) has beautiful views, and they have also included a crows nest on a fourth level. This also makes me feel the lower part of the house does not have good views. But it does look beautiful and it does have full ac. I can't seem to find a north shore home that has full ac besides Peter Bay which is out of our price range. I know people say you don't need ac on the north side. I was there this past June during a humid, non breezy (so bad sail boats hardly moved),heat wave. I'm never going to go to STJ without ac.

Right, northshore houses with AC seem to be rare except for the really expensive ones. A lot of the people who say you don't need AC are the agencies who book them and locals who are used to it. We had a similar experience one June a few years back at an otherwise great house. It was so muggy it was hard to sleep and the mosquitos were out in force. I can make it without AC in the main areas as long as it's in the bedrooms.

I have definetly decided that I am not going to book a house for the summer that does not have full AC. Especially being the mosquito magnet I am. I am now looking at a villa called Vida Da Mar. Looks pretty nice.
