I see a lot of folks going on day trips to Virgin Gorda but I don't see much talk of going to Tortola. Is the ferry trip to Tortola worth it for a day of exploration?
Thanks.

Well, most of the day trips go to Virgin Gorda because of the Baths. There is no comparable site on Tortola. There are some nice beaches, some good hiking, the Botanical Gardens and other attractions. The driving is tough, but if you have seen everything else, it is worth a peek.

I've stayed on Tortola for a week and while it's really beautiful and a great place for a vacation... I'm not sure it's worth a day trip. Maybe you rent a jeep for the day to explore on your own. Roadtown is cool, but doesn't have the shopping that Cruz Bay or STT has. Some of the beaches are beautiful but don't have the incredible reefs that STJ has. I think if you really wanted to see Tortola, it would be worth it to stay a night, explore during the day... have a great dinner... and of course, you'd get an opportunity to visit Bomba Shack which is a wonderful, wonderful place. If you happen to hit it on a full moon, your life could be changed forever!!! LOL (kidding of course, but Bomba's is a great place. Enjoy the islands regardless of which you see.
