Hi, We will be flying into the ST. Thomas airport. How much of a hassle is it getting from the airport to the ferry going to St. John. Once in St. John, what would be the best way to get from the ferry dock to the Westin Hotel? Thanks...

Hi Frank, There are two (maybe 3) options. Take a taxi from the airport to either the town ferry dock (in Charlotte Amalie) or to Red Hook at the other end of St. Thomas. I would negotiate the rate with the driver before hand, they sometimes charge extra for luggage (about $1 per) (This is the hassle part). (If the Westin has their own ferry I don't know about it.) Depends when your plane gets in and the Ferry schedule. See link at the top of the board. The taxi driver may "load up" the taxi w/ other riders, this is normal down there. The ferry runs more frequently from Red Hook and the trip is about 15 minutes, and $3. From town it's 45 minute and costs $7. Net net I think it's cheaper from town and I would rather spend the 30 extra minute on a nice boat ride than a long taxi ride to Red Hook. So my preference is from town if it fits your schedule. Once you get to Cruz Bay in STJ, you won't need to find a taxi they will find you! It's about a 5 minute ride to the Westin, and $4 to 5 per person. Hope this helps.
