If we have to be in Coral Bay, STJ by 9:00 one day we're on vacation, what ferry should we take?

7:00 seems too early, and another barge company has one at 7:30. I'm just not sure how long it would take us to do this. Is 7:00 or 7:30 a really busy time for the ferry's? Also, how long would it take us to drive from Cruz Bay to Coral Bay at about that time.

I also seem to remember that if you buy a one way ticket, instead of a round trip that you can use any of the barges??

I figure a 1/2 hour drive across the island. 7:30 would be fine if you make it on it. that would put you on stj about 8 but if you don't get on and have to wait for the 8 you will be pushing it to get there. Yes buy the one way then you don't have to wait for the same ferry on the way back you just get in line and take the next one.

If you're doing this during the week versus the weekend, bear in mind that the early ferries carry over workers from STT and their trucks as well as general delivery trucks and I believe they get preference. To be on the safe side you may be better advised to try for the earliest and if you get to STJ with time to spare you can always stop for breakfast.

Hi all,

We are traveling to St. John in late April. Can you go to Tortola and Jost for a day and not have to leave by 4:30? We rented a boat last year but the captain told us it was not possible to stay any later than 4:30. Are there ferrys to either place? Thanks for any information and help.

If you look at the top of this page you'll see a link to ferry schedules which will give all that information. As far as not being able to return to the USVI from the BVI after 4:30 it's because if you leave any later you won't be in time to clear immigration and customs. Cheers!
